Seven-point Mind Training

Led by Dhammadinna, Parami

Friday 01 August - Friday 08 August

For OMs and women who have asked for ordination into the WBO

"There exist many teachings, profound and vast, such as Mahamudra and Dzogchen. But our capacity is small, we are without perseverance and lack sufficient respect and devotion to be freed through teachings such as these. Nevertheless, if we practice the 7 point mind training, we will experience great benefits. It is an extraordinary instruction, the very essence of the Bodhisattva teachings and has been praised again and again. Therefore let us practice it without distractions."
Dilgo Khyentse Rimpoche: enlightened courage

This text is based on the teachings of Atisha, (982- 1054) and was formulated by Geshe Chekawa. (1101-1175)

On this retreat Dhammadinna and Parami will explore this "extraordinary instruction" through talks, meditation, reflection and ritual. It is a mind-training and a heart-training. It gives us practical instructions and deep teachings to help turn the mind and heart from ego clinging to interconnectedness, from self-centredness to compassion.

We will look at how this text has relevance to us as Dharma practitioners in the 21st century and we will specifically see how it is pertinent to our common understanding of Going for Refuge within the Western Buddhist Order. Dhammadinna and Parami will draw on their many years of practice within our tradition and their inspiration and excitement over this text as a foundation for the Arising of the Bodhicitta and as a training manual for how to practise under any conditions - even the most adverse - of our everyday life.

This meditation retreat explores the aspect of 'spiritual rebirth' within the WBO System of Meditation of integration, positive emotion, spiritual death, and spiritual rebirth.
