Brahma Viharas: An Awakening HeartLed by Saddhanandi, Sanghajivani Friday 08 February - Friday 15 February For OMs, Mitras and FWBO practitioners who have a regular meditation practice and are familiar with the seven-fold puja An "awakening heart" is a metaphor that describes a way of being in the world that is kind, compassionate, insightful and courageous. It is a description of us "awake and aware"; a state of mind that can have its own momentum within our everyday lives. This "awakening heart" is the central theme to the Buddhist meditations called the Brahma Viharas. This meditation retreat will include full instruction on the four Brahma Vihara meditations: metta, karuna, mudita and uppeskha (love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity). It will be a chance to explore and reflect on our responses to other people and the world, and with that more spacious awareness we will be able to deepen our understanding of ourselves: leaving us with a freer sense of connection and wholeness. The retreat will include meditation instruction; some short workshops or talks; periods of formal silence; and a chance for individual meditation reviews.
