Four in One - Exploring the WBO Fourfold System of Meditation

Led by Kulaprabha

Friday 09 May - Friday 16 May

For OMs and women who have asked for ordination into the WBO

The four aspects of our Bhante's and the WBO system of meditation are coming more and more to the fore in how we teach and explore samatha and vipassana meditation practices in the FWBO. At Taraloka this is the fourth year we have been running specific retreats on them for women who have asked for ordination. Having some expertise under our belts, as it were, on each of the four themes individually, last year we added a fifth retreat covering the mandala as a whole.

The retreat programme is designed to enable an overall deepening of meditative experience - especially in understanding directly how each aspect of the WBO system interconnects with and supports the other three. It should also be a helpful means to clarify what it is that might be holding you back from going for refuge more deeply and how to counter any such obstacles by living from a deeper level of faith, clarity and confidence.

One of Kulaprabha's current interests is how formless practice emerges from bhavana and other structured practices. So she has been exploring that with regard to reflections on the five skandhas; and also with the Six Element practice (which is done on Order meditation retreats). What she's hoping to do on this retreat is explore more fully where there are opportunities for that to happen within the fourfold themes of this retreat.
