Brahma ViharasLed by Saddhanandi, Siddhisambhava Friday 12 September - Sunday 21 September For OMs and women who have asked for ordination into the WBO The path of Insight can also be described as the 'awakening heart'; a way of being in the world that is kind, compassionate, wise and courageous. It is a description of us 'awake and aware'; a state of mind that can have its own momentum within our everyday lives. This quality of 'awakening heart' will be explored through the Buddhist meditations called the Brahma Viharas and through Formless Meditation (pure awareness), which encourages us to rest in experience itself. Through silence and meditation we will have a chance to explore and reflect on our responses to other people and the world, and with a more open awareness we will be able to deepen our understanding of ourselves: leaving us with a freer sense of connection and wholeness. The four Brahma Vihara meditations: metta, karuna, mudita and uppeskha (love, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity) will be introduced with full instruction, showing us how metta can expand to meet all situations. Formless Meditation will be taught as a combination of two processes: calm (Samatha) and insight (Vipassana). It is a simple yet deep and challenging practice. he retreat will include meditation instruction; some short workshops or talks; longer periods of silence; and an opportunity for individual meditation reviews. This meditation retreat explores the aspect of 'positive emotion' within the WBO System of Meditation of integration, positive emotion, spiritual death and spiritual rebirth.
