Abhayanandi

I first came along to Triratana in 2003, I was returning to study after a number of years and wanted to learn to meditate as a way of helping me to concentrate.  I was going to study law.  In due course I finished by my law degree, I never ended up pursuing law but did continue meditating and embarked on a life altering interest in Buddhism.  I was born in South Africa and moved to the UK in my early twenties.  I live in a Buddhist Community in Bethnal Green, close to the London Buddhist Centre (“LBC”), I was one of the founders, along with Padmalila, of Lama’s Pyjama’s, the LBC’s charity shop, where I still work.  I love working in a team, I enjoy practical work. I also appreciate working with friends within a context of consciously trying to do the job effectively whilst having an attitude of kindness towards each other, a commitment to working things out when they go wrong and being open and friendly towards people who come into the shop.  I was ordained in 2014 and my name means ‘She who delights in fearlessness’ .
