Moments of Being
Vidyamala and Vajradevi
3rd - 13th November
10 days intensive meditation led by Vajradevi and Vidyamala. For the third consecutive year this retreat will provide a thorough, in-depth exploration of the four
foundations of mindfulness as outlined in the Satipatthana Sutta - a seminal text on mindfulness within the Buddhist tradition.
Vidyamala and Vajradevi, both very experienced mindfulness practitioners and teachers, will draw on a variety of approaches: body scanning done lying down, slow
walking meditation, poetry, ritual, and sitting meditation, amidst continuous days of silence. The heart of their approach is the understanding that awareness itself can provide the fuel for
spiritual transformation. Their teaching is a continual encouragement to come back to rest in the present moment and develop an honest, pragmatic appraisal of what is actually happening - physically,
mentally, and emotionally - rather than being caught up in reactivity about experience. Resting within the process of change moment-by-moment lessens our preoccupation with content; develops
stability of mind; and encourages a broad and kindly perspective on our experience. It is a gentle, faith-based approach that is deeply encouraging and satisfying and provides a firm foundation for
the second phase of the retreat.
