Trusting the Heart of Awareness: spiritual death
Led by Padmadevi and Vijayamala
10th - 19th March
'By constant practice and mindfulness thereon,
One feels radiant self-awareness shining like a brilliant lamp.
It is pure and as bright as a flower,
It is like the feeling of staring into the vast and empty sky.'
Milarepa.
Milarepa describes this experience of opening to Pure Awareness as being brilliant, pure, empty and vast like the sky. These qualities are intrinsic to the nature of
mind but like the clear blue sky they are often obscured.
On this retreat we will be exploring the nature of awareness through 'formless meditation'.
In this meditation practice we are working to let go of what 'drives' us and relax into the openness and clarity of our innate being; the essence of which is the
Bodhi-Heart.
An introduction to both the shamatha and vipashyana dimensions of the practice will be given, and stories and teachings from the Tantric Masters of Meditation and
Dakini's will guide us!
The different aspects of the retreat will aim to support us in engaging more and more from the space of the heart; the place where our heights and depths meet.
To facilitate this the retreat will be held within a strong ritual space and the devotional context of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
To support the level of direct experience the main part of the retreat will be held in silence. There will be opportunity for meditation reviews.
