Earth and air are such different elements energetically and materially that we might almost think of them as opposites. Yet their manifestation as body and breath is the most natural, intimate connection there is. We need them both to help us stay grounded and yet be as open and energetic as possible, and allow us to feel fully.
From the ground of earth, we will move and open the body with the breath to help fuller breathing and release tensions. Freeing the breath from any holding patterns will in turn give us more awareness and energy to experience the subtle and intimate connections between body and breath, earth and air, which we take for granted most of the time.
With a background of Chinese 5 elements and Buddhist 6 elements models, there will be a mix of exercises drawn from Tibetan yogic practices, Chinese energy traditions, Feldenkrais and Dhammagita’s own ideas. All this will inspire, inform and enliven our sitting practices, and bring an extra dimension to the Mindfulness of Breathing.
