Suddhacandika hails from Sheffield, and has worked in Windhorse: Evolution shops, in care homes and as a bouncer. She first came to Taraloka for the Great Gathering in 2000, and has been coming back ever since! “As soon as I hit the drive, I’m home,” she says. “The community has changed, the people have changed, but the values remain the same. The care that people give breaks down barriers. Working as a team with other retreat leaders, we give that care to each other, and then extend it out to the retreat.”
Suddhacandika’s main inspiration for practice is the third precept: Stillness, simplicity and contentment. “Because previously, it was so out of my way of living! And yet, practising the Dharma has shown me you can have it.”
