Buddhism provides us with a raft of practices which are all supports to help us find freedom. Sometimes, however, we find that we’ve managed to create oppressions out of those very practices. We’ve forgotten how to listen to our inner voices, to cultivate a sensitivity of being which can allow us to be truly creative. On this retreat we will explore the qualities of confidence, intuition, adventure and play needed to creatively sail the path of freedom.

‘I had heard that there was an ocean-crosser, a hero, desiring the desireless...’ (Sutta Nipata 5:11:1)

Like a good sailor we must learn how to trust ourselves and our inner compass. We need to recognise that we have the ability to sail out of the harbour and navigate the great ocean of the Dharma. On this retreat we will explore how to read the wind and waves of our being with talks, meditation, writing, bodywork, voice and ritual.

We will give time and attention to our relationship with our bodies as ‘barometers’. Engaging our imagination in this way, we can explore our resistances and our inspirations, learn how to set our course and engage all of our energies – to sail the path of freedom.

This retreat will also include periods of silence and time in nature.

Paying for your retreat

Taraloka runs on generosity.

To book a retreat you pay a booking fee. This is the only charge made for coming on retreat. As far as possible, we don't want anyone's financial situation to stop them from coming to Taraloka.

At the end of your retreat, you have the opportunity to give money towards Taraloka. If you are able to donate, you are giving to another person who otherwise could not afford to come on retreat. And you are helping to give the gift of Taraloka to the women of the future.

There will be an opportunity to make your donation at the end of the retreat. Donations can be made by credit/debit card, cheque or cash.

Those who cannot afford our suggested donations are free to contribute what they can.
