Akashadaya

Akashadaya

I first got involved with the Triratna Buddhist Community in London in 1995 and then with the Leeds Buddhist sangha in 2004.  Then, in 2021 I was ordained and given a name meaning 'Kindness of Limitless Space'.  I spent five years at Taraloka as kitchen manager, and in 2022 moved back to Leeds where I have many friends.   I am inspired by nature and the outdoors and therefore particularly resonate with the Buddhafield community and all that they do. For the two years before I moved to Nepal I volunteered on the cooking team at Buddhafield North retreats giving me a taste of working as a team in a Buddhist context. I have been coming on retreat to Taraloka since 2000, which is the same year that I asked for ordination. My practice is inspired by ritual, art and nature.  I've been a teacher all my life, including two years with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) in a remote part of Nepal as a teacher trainer.
