Hello, I’m Upāyalīla, ‘he for whom skilful means is play’ and I was ordained way back in August 2024. I live with my wife Sharon in a small village a few miles south east of Aberystwyth, where I help run the West Wales Buddhist group. I’m very fortunate, my location is both beautiful and varied, with hillsides and coast within just a few miles and with easy access. My interests include music, mostly listening with occasional forays into playing guitar, bass or drums, although not all at the same time.
I encountered the Dharma for the first time in 2017 at WWBG, felt I recognised the truth it conveyed almost immediately , and systematically reorganised my life to bring the Dharma to the very centre of my mandala. I was fortunately enough to take early retirement at the end of 2022 , and whilst I’ve never been busier, I feel like my life now has a sense of purpose which it lacked throughout my working years.
