Metta, Music and Movement: a retreat to nourish the heart - 2024

Metta, Music and Movement: a retreat to nourish the heart – 2024

13 - 18 Oct 2024
Led By: Sanghagita

A mid-week metta fiesta of meditation, music and movement.  Coming together in the landscape of Taraloka, meditating collectively and taking that connection out into the land, we will use our voices and bodies to turn towards whatever arises in ourselves or in the world, with love.

Love (metta) underpins the whole of Buddhist practice. Like a jewel it has many facets: patience, intimacy, interest and kindness.  All these facets are ways in which we come into relation with ourselves and others.  All are ways to live at peace in this fleeting, fragile world.

This retreat will include opportunities to sing and chant collectively and practice Tai Chi and other movement meditations together.

No previous experience or skill of singing and/or Tai Chi needed.

There are no single rooms left for this retreat, if you’d like to be on the waiting list please email admin@taraloka.org.uk

Sanghagita is a singing teacher and choir leader who specialises in helping nervous or shy singers find their voice. Her warm, inclusive approach puts people at ease, promoting connection and harmony. Singing with Sanghagita is uplifting and fun!

Siwan started her Tai Chi journey back in 2000 and has been teaching since 2012. For her Tai Chi teaches us about our connection with the earth. All of our movements are carried out because of the existence of gravity and a good Tai Chi practitioner connects with and utilises this deeply. Practicing Tai Chi encourages us to search our whole being to see where this connection may be disturbed or broken. It is a training in metta, learning how to welcome and process whatever comes our way, effortlessly and gracefully.

Manny is a trained dancer and teacher. Over the past few years she has been exploring ways of practising Dharma Movement and have been given the opportunity to share these explorations at Work Retreats, Introductory Weekends, The Great Gathering (2022) and Metta, Movement and Music Retreat (2022) at Taraloka.  It is a delight to be sharing Dharma Movement at Taraloka

Paying for your retreat

Taraloka runs on generosity.

To book a retreat you pay a booking fee. This is the only charge made for coming on retreat. As far as possible, we don’t want anyone’s financial situation to stop them from coming to Taraloka.

At the end of your retreat, you have the opportunity to give money towards Taraloka. If you are able to donate, you are giving to another person who otherwise could not afford to come on retreat. And you are helping to give the gift of Taraloka to the women of the future.

We have suggested donations as these reflect the basic income needed to make a retreat viable. However, they are only suggestions. It is genuinely fine to give ten times these amounts, nothing, or anything in between.

Running on generosity is radical – thank you for being part of that.
